Medela India to host 2nd LactoClave 2016

Posted On : June 16,2016

Medela India, the world’s leading global producer of breast pumps and nursing accessories, will be hosting the second edition of LactoClave on 17th June in association with Fortis La Femme.

The topic for the discussion will be ‘Human Milk Banks: Banking upon Mother’s Milk’. With the rapid growth of Human Milk Banks in India and the need to educate new and expecting mothers on the same, the objective of LactoClave is to create awareness on the concept, operation and benefits of Human Milk.

India has the highest number of deaths due to premature births and ranks 36th among the number of pre-term births globally. A large number of infants don’t survive due to poor feeding practices in the country. WHO recommends that pre-term and low birth weight infants should be fed with mother’s milk and when a mother is unable to express milk, then a Human Milk Bank is the only alternative.

LactoClave 2nd edition will be an interactive live webinar which will take place on June 17th.

This webinar will comprise a panel discussion with renowned and experienced doctors. The Panelists will include Dr Raghuram Malliah, Director Neonatologist and Dr Anita Sharma, Lactation Consultant from Fortis La Femme, Dr Madhu Goel, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Fortis La femme and Dr. Lata Bhat, Head, Dept. of Neonatology from Fortis Hospital and Dr. Sheela Sharma, Incharge Human Milk Bank from Mahila Chikitsalaya of Jaipur.
