Get strong nails at home

Posted On : November 28,2013

Women have always loved treating themselves and looking good.

Wearing the best of the clothes, best hair styles, best cosmetics and everything best.

One of the much showcased part are your hands. For you beautiful hands are essential to look good and beautiful hands imply beautiful nails.

In the quest to have beautiful nails, women end up applying nail colors and unfortunately, these nail polishes bring along with them, certain problems like weak and yellow nails.

Brittle, yellow and dirty nails are a strict no-no and can ruin your entire reputation. But there is a solution - these problems can be taken care of at the comfort of your home.

Ms. Aakriti Kochar, Beauty Expert, Oriflame India
shares with HealthyDunia.com some of the tips to have strong, beautiful and healthy nails at your home with some simple and easy tricks.

“The best way to have strong nails is to have them hard, yet moist. It means that they should not be too soft or they might bend and break, nor should they be too flakey and dry or they would chip off,” said Ms. Kochar.

These are the few easy steps to have gorgeous nails:

a. Remove all the nail enamel from your nails properly.

b.
Shape your nails with a filer.

c.
Once you are happy with what you see, soak your hands in a mixture of olive oil and water for a few minutes.

d.
Pat dry you hands with a clean towel.

e.
Apply any hand moisturizer of your preference so that your nails don’t lose moisture.

f.
Finally, apply nail strengthening enamel so that your nails get a protective armor.

g.
Follow it up with any color/ nail art of your choice.

Follow this routine once a week to attain noticeably stronger, whiter nails. It takes care of not just the cuticles but also the nail beds. You can also paint the inside of your nail tips with a clear enamel to protect the other side as well. Soaking one’s nails in vinegar also helps make them stronger.

How to treat discolored nails?
Apart from that another common problem with women regularly applying dark nail enamels is the discoloration of the nails.

The best solution to this problem is to buff the nails after removing nail enamel. Not only does buffing make the nails whiter, it also makes them stronger and shinier. And for deeper care to the problem of yellow pigmentation, the following home remedy will prove to be very useful:

a. Mix a small amount of baking soda with a few drops of lemon juice.

b. Mix the ingredients well to form a paste. Apply the paste and let it sit roughly for around for 5 minutes

c. Wash it off with lukewarm water to reveal beautiful nails.

If the nails have a very heavy pigmentation, one can also try using whitening toothpaste as it known to make not just our teeth like pearls, but our nails as well.
